Juustolepia is a crowd favorite here at Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, and there's a reason why: You've never tasted cheese like this before!
Juustoleipa is a Finnish word that literally means "bread cheese" because of its unique texture and cooking qualities. It is pronounced "oo-stuh-lay-puh" - try saying that five times fast!

So, how do you eat this kind of cheese? Great question. This cheese can be eaten as is, but is traditionally made to be baked, grilled, or fried. Crusty on the outside, gooey on the inside. What could be better?
At Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, we sell uncooked, fresh Juustoleipa made from our very own Holstein cow milk. Other companies sear their Juustoleipa before selling, but we prefer that you get the freshest, crunchiest crust at home!

To cook: first, simply slice your Juustoleipa into cubes or strips. Then, place in an air fryer, oven, nonstick pan, or griddle (we find it's easiest to pan-fry in a nonstick pan) over medium heat. Keeping it over medium heat ensures the inside gets nice and gooey before the outside gets too dark.
You'll notice that unique crust start to form on your cubes/strips, and you can cook it to your liking- a minute or so on each side.
Once pan-fried, it should look something like this:

Now that you see how easy it is to cook... How to eat it?
Some of our favorite ways include:
- With jam, maple syrup, or hot honey
- Paired with fresh fruit
- On skewers with vegetables and meat
- As a protein substitute for salads or main courses
- Cooked in a waffle iron for maximum crunch
- Dipped in tea, hot chocolate, or coffee
- On snacking trays or grazing boards
- Eaten fresh off the griddle all by itself!
So, where can you buy it? We can ship it right to your door in one of our refrigerated boxes! Order Online and try Jalapeño Juustoleipa, too!
Once you've tried Heber Valley Juustoleipa, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Let us know your favorite way to eat it!
